Delrin Properties
Acetal is commonly known as Delrin Properties. Formaldehyde when polymerized yields out the product known as derlin. It is the chemical composure, its structure and high crystalline structure of this material which gives a combination of such physical properties that are not available in case of other materials whether it be any plastic or any metal. It is used in a number of places such as the gears .moreover it has been used in spacers. Its use is not limited to this only as it has been used in washers as well as handles. Moreover due to the high rigidity and strength of these rods, they have been used in places where a product has to resist high wearing like in bearing.
When it was introduced in the sixty's it has been used in number of industries which include the automotive industry. It has also been used in industries that produce consumer goods.
It is a thermoplastic resin produced from acetal. Some of the properties that make this material so useful is that this material is known for its tensile strength, its inertness to different solvents and moreover its rigid structure. A company named E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. has registered this product. DELRIN rods have the same characteristics and properties of different metals like, and stainless steel.
