The Fanjul brothers, Alfonso Fanjul and Pepe Fanjul are the descendants of Spaniard Andres Gomez-Mena, who built up huge property and a strong empire of sugar mills by the year 1910. Alfonso Fanjul, Sr, the descendant of Andres Gomez-Mena and the owner of the leading sugar companies and trading companies of Cuba was marries to Lillian Gomez-Mena in the year 1936. The ancestral properties of the couple were combined later to start up a huge business of refineries, distilleries, sugar cane mills and a small part of real estate business too. After Pepe Fanjul joined the business in the year 2002, the company gained continuous profit.
