Historic newspaper
As an English literature major in university I was always fascinated with the short stories and poems related to history. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a fan of history or a historic newspaper. Although my curiosity grew as I read more stories and poems about historical events that I thought I was familiar with only to be convinced otherwise. The beauty in the literature's point of view on history is the realm of influence was rather large but the financial gain was very small. Thus author's real opinions could take form in a whole new light and examined on a very different platform only to be used for educational purposes rather than the usual politic or financial gain.
For many years I thought I would find similar expectations with newspapers and magazines related to events of interest. I was sadly mistaken. The political and financial grasp on these institutions were too strong to allow for a real account of events. I came to ask myself recently, has this always been the case? Can we go back in history and look at past documentation from these institutions and get a real feeling of the story?
My feeling that in the early printing press era the wealth and influence of these institutions had not been developed to the point where it really made a difference. The authors had the truest nature to relate the events in the best way they saw fit in order to get the information out to the public.
